A smartphone is a great channel to use if you want to reach your employees. Office workers, non-desk employees, drivers, sales consultants; whoever or wherever your employees are – an employee app ensures they always have the latest company news in their pocket. That is why we developed the Netpresenter Employee App as part of our employee communication platform. In this blog, we give you tips on how to get the most out of your employee app.
Our app allows you to target various audiences easily. For example, you can create target groups per location or department, but you can also easily target individual employees. This way, you can be sure that only the employees who need your message will see it. We think that’s a great little feature because it ensures that your employees probably will keep reading your messages. After all, they are always relevant because they are explicitly targeted at them.
Our app provides plenty of opportunities for social interaction – it’s a bit like social media. Employees can respond to messages with a ‘like’ (thumbs up!) or comment on your message. Other employees can also comment on their colleagues’ comments, or they can drop a ‘like’ or ‘celebrate’ reaction. This way, your employees stay in touch with each other in a fun way, even if they are not working at the same location. It also allows them to show their opinion on certain news.
Another nifty feature: our app displays your colleagues’ profiles. Need a phone number? Just search it in the app. It will show colleagues’ phone numbers, right next to email addresses, a name, their role or position, a photo, and a fun, self-written biography. Reaching your staff just got super easy!
A very easy way to ask your colleagues for their opinions on certain topics: our polls and pulse surveys. Draw up your questions, target the right employees, indicate when they can answer your survey, and watch your colleagues’ opinions pour in. Send out polls anonymous – or not, if, for example, you want to know who will be at the corporate party next Friday. Polls and pulse surveys allow employees to quickly fill in some questions in the employee app at a moment that suits them (e.g., while queuing for coffee), and you will have all the feedback you need. Nice!
It isn’t easy to get your whole staff’s attention at once in hybrid organizations. How do you reach them with urgent information if your employees are at home, in the office, in factories, and on the road? Send a push notification in the employee app! Create a message, determine the urgency, and send the push notification. This will appear on the home screen of your staff’s smartphones, informing everyone quickly of important news, all at once and in real-time. They heard it from you first!
