Employee Communication News

23% of employees are in the dark about AI in their organization. Time for action.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been rapidly gaining ground in the workplace for quite some time. According to recent Gallup research, the share of employees using AI continues to grow. It is increasingly becoming a commodity. Yet, behind these rising numbers lies a worrying reality. A substantial portion of employees do not know whether their organization has adopted AI, a clear wake-up call for communication professionals.

The communication gap in the AI strategy

Gallup’s research shows that 23% of employees do not know whether (and thus how) their organization has implemented AI. This lack of knowledge is unevenly distributed within organizations. Employees in individual contributor roles are significantly more likely to say they are not informed (26%), while the percentage is lower among managers (16%) and leaders (7%). In other words, the very groups who work daily with processes, customers, and systems are the least aware of organizational AI adoption, and that is a risk.

A risk in more than one way

The absence of effective communication about AI adoption has serious consequences. When employees do not know AI has already been introduced, the impact of adoption often remains limited, and the organization-wide potential of investments goes unrealized. In addition, lack of awareness can lead to employees taking matters into their own hands. They may start experimenting with personal, often unsecured AI tools. Gallup warns this can result in use outside established protocols, bringing risks such as data leaks and compliance issues.

AI communication in the workplace

Communicate “intelligently”

Without effective communication, AI adoption largely fails. Organizations that want to close the knowledge gap need to adapt their communication in an intelligent way:

  • Communicate not only that AI is being used, but also why, how, and under which guidelines.
  • Make sure everyone is informed. Not just those who read their email carefully, but truly everyone, everywhere.
  • Keep communicating about AI to ensure staff stays up to date and actually starts using it in the right way.

How to make this happen? Activating every available screen within the organization with Netpresenter ensures that every employee, regardless of location, stays informed continuously. This includes using Digital Signage on TVs, Corporate Screensavers on PCs, and an App on mobile phones. In doing so, messages reach everyone, unawareness is transformed into engagement, and a strong foundation is laid for an AI-powered organization.
