Maine Med Finds Screensaver Alternative to Email, Complements Hospital Emergency Alert System
Interactive screensaver technology from Netpresenter replaces email and compliments hospital’s emergency preparedness system, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, Maine.
Portland, Maine, June 15th, 2006 – Maine Medical Center, the largest community hospital and premier referral hospital in Maine has solved any potential communication problems by implementing the Interactive Netpresenter Screensaver for its more than 5,000 employees and 2700 computers. As hospitals can be the target of a terrorist attack or be subject to computer virus assaults, the implementation of the interactive system instantly alerts those in the busy 600-bed teaching and active research center of any impending emergencies.
Quoting Abigail Greenfield, Communication Relations Manager of Maine Medical Center:
“In a large hospital such as ours, effective internal communication is a constant challenge. The majority of our staff are physicians, nurses and other clinical staff who work various shifts, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. We must be able to reach this group of people quickly, easily and efficiently, particularly in an emergency situation. Netpresenter met all our requirements greatly improving the effectiveness of all our internal communications.”
Comments from Frank Hoen, Chief Executive Officer of Netpresenter:
“The implementation of Netpresenter in the Maine Medical Center is a significant example of how emergency alert usage in an institution of this magnitude is crucial to patients and staff safety. Being able to access communication in a time of emergency is an important step to everyone in a hospital. Since the successful implementation of Netpresenter at Maine Medical Center, other hospitals are now following suit and are implementing Netpresenter as well.”
Concluding thoughts from Abigail Greenfield:
“We found the implementation of Netpresenter to be a very positive experience. The Marketing Department and Information Services worked very closely with our team, plus Netpresenter provided great customer service, all of which contributed to the successful launch of the product. We cannot imagine running our hospital now without Netpresenter.”
Maine Medical Center plans to continue development of Netpresenter by creating multiple channels so that messages can be segmented to different audiences, which includes specific information to each department, patients and even visitors.
