Medical center uses screensaver on all 7,000 PCs for emergency alerts and safety procedures, winning International Communications Award
VCU Health System, located in Richmond, Virginia, uses screensavers on over 7,000 PCs to instantly alert the entire staff in case of an emergency and to communicate safety procedures. The almost 8,000 employees at several sites across the city can now instantly be reached with emergency messages and important procedures, even those without direct access to computers, for instance staff working in clinical areas.
This unconventional approach to emergency communications has helped improve safety in the medical institute, earning VCU Health System the International Communications Award. The award is handed out each year by communications company Netpresenter to one organization worldwide that excels in emergency and internal communications.
