Employees of Dutch National Railways (NS) informed of AMBER Alerts 'in hispeed' |
Railpocket handheld computers used to immediately alert NS staff when a child goes missing or is abducted

AMBER Alert Netherlands today announces that employees of Dutch National Railways (NS) immediately are alerted of AMBER Alerts issued, using Railpocket handheld computers. Linking the AMBER Alert system with the Railpockets carried by NS staff was tested extensively by the NS and Netpresenter, the software company that developed and manages AMBER Alert Netherlands. |
“It’s great news that the NS has decided to link its Railpockets to AMBER Alert,” states Frank Hoen, founder of AMBER Alert Netherlands and CEO of software company Netpresenter. “Thousands of people work with these Railpocket handhelds on a daily basis – not just conductors, but also safety and service staff. This means the police can rely on even more extra eyes and ears when a child goes missing or is abducted.”
“Most NS employees spend the whole of their working day among people. They see and hear a lot. On top of that, our staff is trained to remember and recognize faces, thanks to the nature of their work. So if a child for which the Dutch police has issued an AMBER Alert travels by train or via a train station, the chance it is seen and recognized now has significantly increased,” says Max Ferwerda, project manager customer & calamity at the NS.
